What is webb-database

Welcome to Webb-database, a comprehensive resource compiling data on individuals, organizations, and statistics from Hong Kong and beyond. The data was originally collected since 1998 by David M. Webb, who also published his data collection code for others to continue. I am honored to continue this work independently, committed to maintaining high quality and expanding the database with additional data sources.

Data Updates: The Webb-database follow the same data update schedules as Webb-site. Data is updated daily. I plan to expand coverage with additional data in finance, real estate, government, and corporate sectors, providing valuable insights for researchers, investors, and anyone tracking the economic and business landscape. More information on new datasets will follow shortly.

Founded in 1998 by David M. Webb, a former investment banker who moved to Hong Kong in 1991, Webb-site.com provided independent research and insights focused on Hong Kong. Its coverage included corporate governance, finance, investment, business, legal, and regulatory matters. The site also hosted the Webb database Who's Who, a comprehensive public-domain resource covering companies, organizations, and notable individuals in Hong Kong and beyond.

About David M. Webb

David M. Webb is a retired investment banker who worked for 12 years in the financial sector, starting in London and relocating to Hong Kong in 1991. He served as Corporate Finance Director at BZW Asia Limited, handling equity issues and advisory assignments across Asia until 1994, when he became an in-house adviser to Wheelock, a local listed conglomerate. Since retiring in 1998, he has focused on managing Webb-site.com and researching Hong Kong’s market, particularly smaller firms.

Although some of David M. Webb's earlier work, including code and data aggregation, powers Webb-database.com, he has no current affiliation with or responsibility for the site.
